    Galveston Bay

    Considered to be one of the world's most productive estuaries, Galveston Bay is a semi-enclosed body of water that has cities such as Galveston, Texas City and Baytown on its shores. The bay is approximately 30 mi (48 km) long and 17 mi (27 km) wide and has a surface area of 600 sq mi (965 sq km). Fishing is a major industry in Galveston Bay.
